What is Kanemitsu’s unique “roll-forming technology?”

This is a unique metal plastic deformation processing technology used to create any shape using a rolling roller on a steel plate formed into a cup shape with a press. The equipment used in this process is all developed in-house by Kanemitsu.

Expanding the possibilities of steel plates with “roll-forming technology”

1. Thickening

Roll-forming technology makes it possible to thicken certain areas, making products lighter and stronger through a strain hardening process applied to the thickened/thinned area.

3 times the thickness of the raw material (external area)

Kanemitsu has experience increasing the thickness of the following materials.

SPCC・SPHE (cold/hot rolled steel plate)/SAPH440 (automotive structural hot rolled steel plate)/S35C (carbon steel)/SCM (chrome molybdenum steel)/SCr (chrome steel)/SPFH490・590 (automotive structural hot rolled high tensile strength steel)

2. Thinning

“Roll-forming technology” also makes it possible to thin certain areas and perform deep drawing.
With roll-forming, there is no need for annealing, required to prevent cracking during the drawing process when using a press and it is also possible to create a lustrous surface.

3. Ring rolling

Ring rolling makes it possible to increase the inside diameter of ring-shaped material and fabricate hard materials easily.

Kanemitsu has experience “ring rolling” the following materials.

SUJ2 (high carbon steel bearing shaft)/S25C・35C・45C (carbon steel)/SCM (chrome molybdenum steel)/SCr (chrome steel)

Realizing lighter & stronger products and reduced costs with “special press technologies (integrated boss forming technologies).”

These are special press technologies that are used to create an integrated boss (thickened portion) in the center of a circular steel plate.
It is also possible to create a keyway or spline in the thickened area.
Strain hardening is used to create parts with increased strength and it is easier to achieve uniform levels of quality compared to the conventional method of welding the boss into place.

90% shearing precision using advanced “precision press cutting technology.”

Precision press cutting technology enables precision tooth thickness of 6 mm and 90% shearing precision of the stamped-out area using a general-purpose press without the need for special equipment.
We are currently trialing precession cutting technology on 8 mm thick steel plates, etc.
